POLITICAL CAREER:
In the period from 1992 until 1995 for his political engagement Dr. Haris Silajdzic received awards from the whole World, by drawing attention of international community on safer of innocent civilians for the time of aggression, war crimes and the heaviest violence of human rights. He was consistently asking for the action in order to protect innocent civilians in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was the first who discovered massacres in cities: Bijeljina, Prijedor, Zvornik and other cities and villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and proved camps of death, mass outrages non-seen on European soil after World War Two. Dr. Silajdzic tirelessly was negotiating with many governments around the world in order to obtain asylum for almost two million refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to escape death and terror. He continuously requested guarantees of minimum human rights for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He contributed to the mass humanitarian aid operations through involvement of many humanitarian organizations and by the engagement of individuals of good will. On international scene he persistently protected rights of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their self-defense rights, despite indolent bureaucracy. He fought for the fact that catastrophic genocide was committed in BiH, persistently pointing on the serious consequences for the whole Europe if it is allowed that fashism and bottom nationalism are again established on this continent. Dr. Silajdzic was, and still is, heartily and loudly proponent of peaceful solutions. In march of 1994 he led the delegation of BiH on negotiations which were successfully completed with signing of Washington accord, when Federation of BiH was established and the fighting between Croatian and Army of BiH ended. With this Accord thousands of innocent lives were saved and enormously strengthened for signing of final Peaceful Agreement. In Dayton, Ohio, where the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina was finalized, Dr. Silajdzic was the head negotiator on the side of BiH administration along the side with president Alija Izetbegovic. On the domestic scene, Dr. Haris Silajdic has shown himself as wise and energetic proponent of multi ethnicity and political pluralism which embodies establishment of parliamentary democracy. He continues to claim implementation of refugee rights and displaced citizens for return, on the grounds of reestablishment multiethnic society in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His strong support for multi ethnicity, democracy and citizen rights has caused an anger of extremists who tried to commit assassination on him in 1996. Dr. Haris Silajdzic with his involvement has stayed consistent with his orientation that was mapped out in the beginning of his political career: respect of freedom values, democracy, human rights, for which he earned international respect and prominence. On the domestic scene Dr. Silajdzic is the main political proponent for implementation of international laws of human rights on the whole territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. |
